Design Portfolio

Just given the ol' portfolio a slight rejigger. I'm on the verge of moving from in-house design to full-on freelancery, so it's long overdue for a good spring clean, or maybe just a complete do-over. Decent pictures of my work are key to the whole thing – I really need to invest in a decent studio camera setup – but I also need to figure out out whether I really want a minimal portfolio (I quite like the idea of a one-pager), or something more complex and bloggy.
As always, it's a case of finding the balance between the design in my head and the coding skills at my fingertips … and then finding the right system with which to build it. Risk looking like everyone else with Indexhibit/Cargo/Behance sites, or build from scratch? Seems like a good excuse as any to hit siteInspire to get a few ideas rolling about the noggin!
Seen any particularly beautiful portfolios recently?

I recently went through and ordered all of my bookmarks into folders so that all 'Inspirational sites' could be grouped into how they look. Seems there are a lot of feed led griddy sites knocking about. Best ones i've seen recently are probably...
http://www.lundgrenlindqvist.se
http://www.designmadeingermany.de
and two that aren't *really* portfolio sites but are great...
http://www.faebric.com
http://designspiration.net (I know that's quite obvious, but it's ace. And the search function is class)
the former tempting me to sack off Cargo and just have a site that's a live feed of EVERY SINGLE BIT of social networking i'm doing. A bit like what kylestanding.com used to be until it went private.
Doesn't answer the question but check this for some inspiration:

Thanks for the siteInspire mention. :-)
A favourite of mine recently is www.girlfriendnyc.com and Gin Lane - www.ginlanemedia.com/portfolio.html
Thanks for all the suggestions! A great selection.
@EightyTen that Feabric site is amazing … but a little beyond my abilities methinks :)
@Daniel That Gin Lane one looks a lot like what I was aiming for with my tweaks, so that's a particularly useful one.
Which font did you use on the excellent Memories of the Space Age poster?
@Jack That's Futura Bold. Usually seen in big red capitals on Eddie Murphy posters :)
@All Commenter,Thanks. I can learn from your post …thanks .. ;)
