Although the Joss Whedon-scripted Astonishing X-Men have been rather excellent (who better to write about super-powered teenage angst?), what the world really wants him to sink his teeth into is another series of Buffy.

Good news: although you won't see your favourite west coast stake-flinger on TV anytime soon, the Scooby Gang (minus Xander's left eye, of course) are returning for an eighth series in comicbook form, written by Whedon himself.

According to publisher Dark Horse, this will see the return of one of the most popular villains from the TV show and take the gang all the way to Tokyo. Plus Faith will be in there somewhere.

The first issue of Buffy: Long Way Home should be hitting comic stores any day now.
